Ovals

Thalanyji Oval

The Thalanyji Oval is situated on Third Avenue and was previously known as the Onslow Oval. It was renamed in acknowledgement of the local Indigenous population. It is a full sized oval which is reticulated and partially floodlit for evening training purposes. There are goalposts, a cricket pitch, children’s playground and a BBQ area. It is adjacent to the Onslow Sports Club.

Multi-Purpose Complex

The Multi-Purpose Complex includes a full size sports gymnasium and indoor courts and canteen facilities.

The external Multi-Purpose Courts provide the Onslow community with two undercover courts and one open air court, quality night lighting, car parks, spectator viewing, scoreboards, umpire and scoring facilities.  The undercover area will also provide a facility for many events that are often compromised due to weather and heat.

Bookings can be made via the Shire Office.

RM Forrest Hall

The new RM Forrest Hall is located in the Onslow Shire Complex and, with kitchen facilities, is suitable for a variety of formal and casual events.

Tennis Courts

The Onslow Sports Club manages the tennis courts and keys can be obtained from there. The lights are operated by a coin box. One of the courts is synthetic and the other is paved.

Public swimming pools

The Pannawonica Swimming Pool is located in the town centre and includes grassed areas with trees and a BBQ is available for pool patrons. The Pannawonica Swimming Centre consists of a six lane 50m pool ranging from 1.0m deep at the shallow end to 1.8m at the deep end and a toddler pool with a uniform depth of 400mm. A sunshade covers the toddler pool and the main pool.

The swimming pool is heated during the winter months.

The swimming pool is also available for private functions including children’s birthday parties. Bookings essential and can be made through the Town Office or via email to pii.commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

Sport courts

  • Primary School courts are available to the general public after school hours only and no bookings are required. If use is required during school hours please contact the Primary school directly.
  • Yannarie Park courts are located next to the skate park and available to the general public at all times. The lights are on a timer for night time only. No bookings required for general public use however all functions/events must be booked through the Town Office or via email to commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com
  • Squash courts are located next to the Community Hall. Bookings must be made through the Town Office or via email to commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

Community Halls

The Pannawonica Community Hall can fit a capacity of 250 and is used by a number of different community groups and functions.  Inside the hall there is a small sports court area and kitchen facilities, stereo sound system, tables and chairs for functions. Bookings can be made through the Town Office or via email to pii.commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

The Mayu Maya Centre

The Mayu Maya Centre is an alcohol free venue and provides the following facilities for the community

  • Internet Room – this room has 8 computers with internet capabilities with two being dedicated to Rio Tinto Corp only. Please be aware that Rio Tinto internet policies apply to all computers. No bookings required.
  • Youth House  – please contact Pannawonica Youth Group for further information
  • Games rooms – this room has a pool table, table tennis, darts and a digital TV with Foxtel included. No bookings required.
  • Cinema Room – This room provides residents the ability to watch their own movies with a cinema experience. The system has the capability to play DVD’s including BluRay as well as 3D and able to plug and play from laptops, USB’s and IPad. Bookings essential and can be made through the Town Office or via email to commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com
  • Robe Meeting rooms – the rooms provide conference and meeting facilities for the community and business. There are two meeting rooms however they can be joined to cater up to 30 people. The installed media system allows any electronic equipment using VGA or HDMI cables to be utilized. Bookings essential and can be made through the Town Office or via email to commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

Public / Nature Reserves

Wandoo Park

(The Rocks) is used by a number of different community groups and functions. It has a small stage/amphitheater, BBQ, drinking fountain sheltered seating, shaded play equipment. No bookings are required for general public use however all functions/events must be booked through the Town Office or via email to pii.commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

Tony Lyons Park

An open public park with a BBQ, drinking fountain, sheltered seating, playground equipment and outdoor gym equipment. No bookings are required for general public use however all functions/events must be booked through the Town Office or via email to pii.commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

Yannarie Park is an open public park with a BBQ drinking fountain, sheltered seating, playground equipment, skate park, basketball & tennis courts and public ablutions. No bookings are required for general public use however all functions/events must be booked through the Town Office or via email to pii.commercialpannawonica@riotinto.com

PARABURDOO

The Quentin Broad Swimming Pool consists of a six lane 50m pool ranging from 1.1m deep at the shallow end to 1.8m at the deep end and a substantial baby pool with a uniform depth of 150mm. A sunshade covers the baby pool and half the main pool.

The pool facility includes grassed areas with trees and a BBQ is available for pool patrons upon request. The swimming pool is also available for private functions including children’s birthday parties.

Ovals

Peter Sutherland Oval

The Peter Sutherland Oval is the larger of the two ovals situated in Paraburdoo, used by groups such as football and softball. Night games are very popular as there are four large light towers. These are on a timer system, which will only be programmed to come on if bookings are made through the Facilities Officer at the Shire Office.

Judy Woodvine Oval

The Judy Woodvine Oval is not a full size oval and is used by groups such as tee ball. This oval is used for day games, as there is no lighting available. Bookings must be made through the Shire office.

Halls and court hire

Basketball Courts

The Paraburdoo Basketball Courts are located next to the Sports Pavilion. The courts can be used for basketball, netball and tennis. The lights are on a timer system and will only be turned on for bookings made through the Shire Office.

Ashburton Hall

The Ashburton Hall can fit a capacity of 400 people. It has a stage area and an outdoor area with BBQ facilities and toilets. Inside the hall there are also kitchen facilities that are available for use. The hall is used by a number of different community groups and functions such as the Paraburdoo Ball.

Lesser Hall

This is situated inside the Ashburton Hall and has its own separate entrance and air conditioner. The room can hold 77 people and is used for smaller functions such as meetings and conferences.

Sports Pavilion

The Sports Pavilion can hold 240 people. Mostly sporting groups such as gymnastics and dancing, hire the pavilion, which is located adjacent to the Paraburdoo Oval.

Public swimming pools

The Vic Hayton Memorial Swimming Pool boasts a fully functional learn to swim area, beach walk in entry and water features in the babies pool. The centre also has a park volleyball and half court basketball area. The babies’ pool is completely covered by shade sails and the main pools are covered from the shallow end to the mid section.

The pool facility includes grassed areas with trees and a BBQ is available for pool patrons upon request. The swimming pool is also available for private functions including children’s birthday parties.

Ovals

Clem Thompson Memorial Oval and Pavilion

Tom Price ovals

The oval is a full sized football stadium. The lights at the oval are on a timer system, which is activated by the Shire’s Facility team.

Tjiluna Oval

Tjiluna Oval is a smaller size oval and has a permanent safety fence around the diamond. These features make it particularly attractive for softball and baseball throughout the year. Previously named Number Two Oval, the new name refers to a waterhole near Tom Price of great significance to the local Gurama people. The lights are also on a timer system and are only turned on for bookings made through the Shire office.

Minna Oval

This oval is adjacent to the North Tom Price Primary School in Area W. The oval is a joint facility between the Education Department and the Shire of Ashburton. The oval has a cement path around the outside perimeter and the reserve is classed as an off leash dog exercise area. This oval has no lighting towers.

Recreation Centre

The Tom Price Community Recreation Centre features a performing arts theatre, green room, multipurpose sports hall and a crèche room.

Community Centre

The Community Centre can fit a capacity of 310 people into its hall and is suitable for dancing and theatre (it has a stage area), quiz nights, worskhops, school holiday activities and community events.

Clem Thompson Memorial Oval and Pavilion

The Tom Price Clem Thompson Memorial Oval has an upstairs Sports Pavilion, complete with bar and kitchen facilities, and is suitable for a variety of formal and casual events.

Civic Centre

The Civic Centre can hold 225 people. The hall itself is situated in Area W and is used for function hire, gymnastics and the Nameless Playgroup. The Art N Craft group hold their classes in a room adjacent to the Centre.

Basketball & Netball Courts

The Tom Price Basketball and Netball Courts are situated in Area W and consist of four full size courts. The courts are lined for both Netball and Basketball. The lights are on a timer system and will only be turned on for bookings made through the Shire Office.
